Happy Birthday Mom!
Skipped idea of driving to BART station and taking that in to Market St.,
then taking the MUNI around town. Drove straight in and parked at the HornBlower
lot on Pier 33. Still relatively quiet at the Wharf. Mom and I managed
to get tickets for the 12: 15 pm boat to Alcatraz, just a 2 boat delay.
Dad decided to walk around instead, looking into various shops. I found
an internet cafe at the Pier and was able to get more info about the ATTbi
Remote Access program - even though I have a working login and password
after paying my $10 startup fee, I couldn't get either one of the 2 local
access numbers in Pacifica to accept them, when I tried later on to log in
from my laptop. I'll probably just load AOL and cancel after the trip.
At least this RV site has excellent DSL internet access via a single computer
in the large front desk / shop.
Mom and I had a great time at Alcatraz. Absolutely beautiful day for taking
a ferry. Terrific views of Alcatraz, San Fran downtown, and the bridges.
The drive back through downtown was a pain, due to one way streets and
no turn here signs. But we did make it. Everyone was too tired or got
side tracked to watch a DVD tonight. Plan is for a light day tomorrow,
spending the afternoon and dinner with another one of Mom's friends.
